- Apply to and gain acceptance to the college/university of your choice. You are responsible for following the college’s application procedures and meeting ALL deadlines and test requirements (ACT, SAT, Accuplacer, etc.). Each college may have different entrance requirements and deadlines.
- Create a gafutures.org account AND complete the DE funding application (some colleges require this as part of the admissions process).
- Parents/Guardians are required to electronically acknowledge they approve you to participate in this program via email from GAFutures.org
- It is your responsibility to register for the correct courses. Only courses listed on the gafutures.org course directory will be funded.
- While we provide a GCPS Chromebook to students enrolled at Parkview, colleges may require the use of applications or websites not available for use with our Chromebooks. Dual Enrollment students will need to have another computer available for these courses, although we are not able to connect those devices to the school network.
- Complete PHS DE Advisement Sheet which lists the course name(s) & course number(s) of the classes you plan to take at college and turn into Counseling Office.
- Turn in Declaration of Intent form to the Counseling Office.
- Submit a copy of your FINAL college schedule and Schedule Adjustment Form EACH semester to the Dual Enrollment Coordinators. For Fall semester we must have your college schedule by mid- August; for Spring semester we must have your college schedule prior to the start of Spring semester.
- It is the student’s responsibility to check StudentVue prior to the start of each semester to view their Parkview schedule. All part-time students will have an Advisement period scheduled.
- At the end of each semester, provide Parkview with an official copy of your college transcript.
- Check your emails daily for important updates and information from DE Coordinators and the college. Failure to follow procedures may result in dismissal from the Dual Enrollment Program.
- Dual Enrollment students are responsible for completing all high school graduation requirements (including testing requirements, i.e., EOC) in order to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Payment/Tuition for Classes
Only courses listed on the GAfutures.org course directory will be funded. Students are allotted funding for a maximum of 30 credit hours (15 credit hours maximum per semester)
10th Graders and DE
Tenth graders must score a minimum of 1200 on the SAT or 26 on the ACT in a single test administration to be eligible to take academic classes at a college or university. If you do not achieve this score, you will only be eligible to take CTAE (technical) classes at a technical college. Speak to your counselor before registering for dual enrollment as a 10th grade student.
Dual Enrollment Class Selection Tips
Always check with your assigned School Counselor before registering for classes.
Language Arts
Language Arts Requirements are changing for the 25-26 school year. Please check back for updates.
All students must take American Literature, typically during 11th grade / Junior year. If you register for Language Arts at college and take English 1101 and or 1102 which is usually called Advanced Composition, those classes will ONLY count for Senior Language Arts. They will not count for American Literature. You may take American Literature at college. However, some colleges require that you have prerequisites (usually English 1101 and 1102) completed before you are allowed to take American Literature. Be sure and check the college website or the list of classes offered on GAfutures.org.
Math
You must have completed Advanced Algebra Concepts & Connections or Enhanced Advanced Algebra/AP Precalculus: Concepts & Connections at Parkview before you will be allowed to take any math class at college. Also, many colleges require that you take a math placement test before you are allowed to register for a math class. Check the college website for more information.
Science
If you want to register for your fourth required science class at college, be careful of the course numbers and classes you choose. If you take Biology with this course number 26.01200, Chemistry with this course number 40.05100, or Physics with this course number 40.08100, those classes will NOT count as your 4th science. You may take the class if you choose, and it will still go on your Parkview transcript; however, it will NOT count as your 4th science graduation requirement. You will have to take the next level or you can decide to take a different science class on the GAfutures.org course directory. For example, Astronomy, and Anatomy would all count as a 4th science.
Social Studies
You are required to take World History, U.S. History, Economics (1 semester), and American Government (1 semester) to graduate from Parkview. IIf you take Economics at college you must take an Economics with this course number: 45.06100. If you want to earn credit for American Government, the class at college must be American Government with this course number: 45.05700, not Political Science or any other Social Studies course.
