Can I request a schedule change if I change my mind later?
Unfortunately, we are not able to honor schedule change requests after the registration process closes. We hire faculty and build the master schedule based on the classes students request during the registration process, so we are not able to accommodate schedule changes for the following reasons:
- The class could impact my overall GPA.
- The class is too difficult.
- I no longer need the class.
- I don't like my teacher.
- I don't like my Advisement/lunch period.
Schedule change requests between 1st & 2nd Semester will also not be honored as we schedule the entire year based on registration each spring.
Therefore, please review your classes carefully during the registration process this spring as you will NOT be able to change your classes later.
The ONLY schedule changes permitted after the registration period ends are for students who:
- registered for a class for which they already have credit in course history.
- are seniors who are missing a class for a graduation requirement.

What is Advisement?
The Advisement program fosters positive student to student, student to teacher, and teacher to teacher relationships through goal-focused conversations that improve student performance both academically and behaviorally. The purpose of Advisement program is to build meaningful connections between adults and students, resulting in improved student academic achievement.
All students will be scheduled for an Advisement class in 4th, 5th or 6th period. Students will attend Advisement for half of the period and attend lunch for the other half of the period. On the first day of each semester, please report to your Advisement class at the beginning of the period, and your teacher will let you know if you have an A lunch (first half of the period) or a B lunch (second half of the period). January 2025
Dear Future Parkview Panthers and Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the Parkview Class of 2029! We look forward to working with you and your student over the next four years. One of the most important decisions your student will make when transitioning to high school involves course selection for ninth grade. At the end of January, the teachers at Trickum Middle School will be completing their recommendation of core classes based on your student’s performance in class and on standardized assessments. The registration form will come home with your student on Tuesday, February 4th, and we ask that you bring the registration form with you to your assigned curriculum night. To support students and families, we want everyone to be informed about the courses from which students are selecting since the classes chosen in ninth grade can often determine what options are available in years three and four of the four-year plan.
To make this transition as smooth as possible for your child, Parkview will host a Rising 9th Grade Night on two separate nights to keep session sizes smaller. Students with last name A-L should attend on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 and students with the last name M-Z should attend on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 6:30 until 8:00. Both evenings will begin with brief announcements in six different areas. See Attachment A - plan/map to determine the starting location based on your student’s last name. After the first session, families will attend subsequent sessions based on the attached plan and hear placement information for math, language arts, science, social studies, foreign language, and electives.
During the entire evening, the cafeteria will be set up with information regarding electives (see Attachment B) as well as clubs, sports, and other extracurricular opportunities for ninth graders. Also, counselors will be available at the Counselor Corner in the cafeteria.
Prior to the start of our Rising 9th Grade Night at 6:30, there will be a few special meetings to discuss information pertinent to special programs. These meetings will be held from 6:00-6:25:
- The 3DE meeting will be held in 4.236 (H building) and Mrs. Carla Hamilton, along with 3DE teachers and students, will present information about the 3DE program.
- The Gifted meeting will be held in the Parkview Media Center (C building) and our lead Gifted teacher, Mrs. Anela Buljubasic, will give a presentation to parents and students about the gifted program at Parkview HS.
- The Multi-Lingual Learner meeting will be held in Room 10.122 (C building) with Mrs. Alicia Cooper, Parkview’s ML teacher. She will present information about Parkview’s ML program.
- The Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meeting will be held in Room 10.127 (C building). Mrs. Melissa Kasson & Dr. Amy Edwards will answer questions that parents may have about a student with an IEP.
- The 504 Plan meeting will be held in Room 10.128 (C building). Mr. David Ellison will answer questions parents may have about students with a 504 plan.
Enclosed you will find additional information that will help you and your student navigate the evening’s events and the registration process. Please bring this letter and the additional pages along with your student’s registration sheet with you to your assigned night. Also, all registration information can be found on our Registration Hub on the Parkview Website. We are eager to meet you and work with your family!
Sincerely,
Leigh Wach
Assistant Principal
